Hello, Sick and Friends!
After several months of confinement, we are facing the increase and worsening of anxiety, anxiety-depressive disorders and even phobias such as agorophobia itself.
But it's the Elderly once again suffering the effects of isolation... with even less isolation, worsening of osteo-articular complaints, and even deterioration of cognitive status!
Fight fronts are too many! But it is possible to invest in all!
I would like to draw attention to a large range of patients with Parkinson’s disease whose symptoms have been clearly worsened as demonstrated by several studies.
More than half of people suffering from Parkinson’s disease in Spain worsened their symptoms during confinement.
This is the result of a survey conducted byStudy Group Trastornos del Movimiento de la Sociedad Española de Neurología (GETM)with the support of theObservatorio Parkinson de la Federación española de ParkinsonandAsociación Parkinson Galicia-Coruña.
In the study conducted between May and July, 568 people participated, including patients, caregivers and family members spread throughout 49 provinces of Spain.
The Health Information SiteInfosalusreports that, although 73% of respondents continued treatment, 65.7% suffered some form of deterioration. The most common symptoms were bradykinesia, sleep disorders, stiffness, pain, depression, fatigue, tremor and appetite disorders, among others.
This worsening in many polysymptomatic cases requires not only therapeutic adjustments, but multidisciplinary interventions for Teams to sustainably rehabilitate and prevent loss of well-being and quality of life! The Parkinsonian Patients fight daily, we support them!
See you soon!
